A quadratic equation has a typical format of ax² + bx + c.

So using the coefficient a, b and c, we plug them into the quadratic formula:

[tex]x = \dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac} }{2a} [/tex]

Note the [tex]\pm\ [/tex] .With the formula, we should get 2 answers for x.
