[tex] (x + 10)^2 = 36 [/tex]

[tex] x + 10 = \pm \sqrt{36} [/tex]

[tex] x + 10 = 6 [/tex]   or   [tex] x + 10 = -6 [/tex]

[tex] x = -4 [/tex]   or   [tex] = -16 [/tex]
