Spanish missions helped introduce Christianity and spread the Catholic faith. It also helped teach natives how to farm and lead a more sedentary (not nomadic) lifestyle. Missions were not always successful. The ones located in the Western parts of Texas often failed due to attacks by the Comanche and Apache, who refused to learn.
