Start with 1/5x – 2/3y = 30.  Let y = 15:      (1/5)x – (2/3)(15) = 30

Then (1/5)x - 10 = 30, and (1/5)x = 40, and so x = 200 (answer)

1/5x - 2/3y = 30;    y = 15

1/5x - 2/3(15) = 30

1/5x - 30/3 = 30

1/5x - 10 = 30

1/5x = 30 + 10

1/5x = 40

x = 40 * 5

x = 200

hope this helped, God bless!
