Why do you think that shakespeare does not give reasons for the feud between the capulets and montagues?

I think that Shakespeare wanted to show how absurd their feud was. The feud lasted for such a long time that probably neither family even remembers what it is they were quarreling about. It is quite absurd that something which is likely very irrelevant led to the deaths of two young lovers who couldn't be together because of their families.
