The passive voice is formed by using a form of the auxiliary verb “be” (be, am, is, are, was, were, being, been) followed by the past participle of the main verb. Past participles are past tense verb forms that are used as adjectives. For regular verbs, the past participle is the same as the simple past tense, and usually end in –ed, like heated, rotted, or grabbed.
