What is the value of y in the equation 2(3y − 6) = 0?

2(3y-6)=0
   6y-12=0
        6y=12
          y=12/6
           y=2

Divide both sides by the numeric factor on the left side, then solve.
2(3y − 6) = 0
y = 2
