if you mean (x-3)^2 then
[tex] (x-3)^{2} =49[/tex]
[tex]x-3= \sqrt{49} [/tex]
[tex]x-3=7[/tex] or [tex]x-3=-7[/tex]
[tex]x=10[/tex] or [tex]x=-4[/tex]
(x - 3)^2 = 49
(x - 3)^2 = 7^2

x - 3 = 7
x = 10

-(x-3) = 7
-x +3 = 7
-x = 4
x = -4

answer
x =-4 and x = 10
