the pOH is -log (,05) so 1.30.  14-1.30 = 12.7 is the pH

The formula for pOH is -log(M), so we can plug in -log(0.0500), which gives us 1.3. However, KOH is a BASE, so we just solved for the pOH.

The formula for pH and pOH is ph + pOH = 14, so we need to subtract the 1.3 from 14 since we want the pH, not the pOH.

So, with that said, our final answer and pH is 12.7 :)
