Asyndeton is defined as a figure of speech that leaves out conjunctions in the sentence or phrase.  It is done in literature and poetry to either present the words in their concise form or maintain rhythm and cadence.

Fitzgerald used it in The Great Gatsby. It is evident in this text:

"That was the inexhaustible charm that rose and fell in it, the jingle of it, the cymbals' song of it."
