First, we are going to interpret the reaction on the molar level:

[tex]1\text{ mole of H}_2\text{ reacts with 1 mole of I}_2\text{ to form 2 moles of HI.}[/tex]

Now, we are going to calculate the molecular weights to do the particulate level:

[tex]\begin{gathered} M.W.\text{ H}_2=\text{ 2 g/mol} \\ M.W.\text{ I}_2\text{ = 127*2=254 g/mol} \\ M.W.\text{ HI = 1+127= 128 g/mol} \end{gathered}[/tex]

Then, the interpretation is:

[tex]2\text{ g of H}_2\text{ react with 254 g of I}_2\text{ to form 256 g of HI. }[/tex]
