The cells that mediate humoral immunity do so because they are capable of producing IgM antibodies.

T helper 2 (TH2) cells activate the humoral immune response by triggering immature antigen-specific B cells to make immunoglobulin M antibodies. These T helper 2 cells can subsequently prompt the production of various isotypes, including immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin E, also negating and weak opsonizing subtypes of immunoglobulin G.
