x + 1/x = 2.9

x^2 + 1 = 2.9x
x^2 - 2.9x +1 = 0
(x - 0.4)(x - 2.5) = 0

x - 0.4 = 0 so x = 0.4
x - 2.5 = 0 so x = 2.5
answer: x = 0.4 and x = 2.5
