In my opinion the more difficult route would be Venice to Kiev.

Explanation:

As since the Middle Ages Western Europe had practically unified trade routes it was easier for people to move across it, then to pass from Western to Eastern Europe. That is why moving from Hamburg to Venice was easier than moving and trading from Venice or any other city in Western Europe to Kiev.
