The equation would look like this
2 (x + 8) = 10 - x
First you distribute: 2x +16 = 10 - x
Next you isolate the variable by adding x to each side and subtracting 16 from each side: 3x = 10 - 16
Simplify: 3x = -6
Divide both sides by 3: x = -2
