Rewrite the following equation x(x)-14x+24=y in vertex form. What is the vertex?

y = x² − 14x + 24

To convert to vertex form, complete the square.  Take half of the second coefficient, square it, then add the result to both sides.

(-14/2)² = 49

y + 49 = x² − 14x + 49 + 24

y + 49 = (x − 7)² + 24

y = (x − 7)² − 25

The vertex is (7, -25).
