You'll need to expand (x − 2)(x + 10) first,

(x − 2)(x + 10) = 13
[tex]x^2+8 x-20=13[/tex]
[tex]x^2+8 x+16=49[/tex]
[tex](x+4)^2=49[/tex]
[tex]x+4= \pm 7[/tex]
[tex]x=3 , x=-11[/tex]
