Different settlers and explorers could adapt to environments easier due to where they are originally from.
For example, if you live in Canada and travel to Washington state, you won't notice many differences because of the similar climates. However, if you lived in Arizona and traveled to Alaska, you would struggle with adapting to their way of living.
