Let the point (1,3) be (x1, y1)

Let the point (5,2) be (x2, y2)

The distance between the two points would be √((x2-x1)²+(y2-y1)²)

Substitute the numbers into the  points

distance: √((5-1)²+(2-3)²)

=√(4²+(-1)²)

=√(16+1)

=√17
