the equation of a line in point-slope form is

y - b = m(x - a)

where m is the slope and (a, b) a point on the line

to calculate m use the gradient formula

m = (y₂ - y₁ ) / (x₂ - x₁ )

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 4, - 1) and (x₂, y₂) = (1 1/2, 2 )

m = [tex]\frac{2+1}{11/2+4}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{3}{5 1/2}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{6}{11}[/tex]

using (a, b) = (- 4, - 1), then

y + 1 = [tex]\frac{6}{11}[/tex](x + 4)
