Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

2x + h

Discussion:

This quotient commonly appears in the study of differential Calculus.

For f(x) = x^ 2:

( f(x+h) - f(x) ) /h =

(  (x +h)^2   - x^2) ) /h =

(  (x^2 + 2xh + h^2) - x^2)  / h =               => as x^2 - x^2 = 0

(  2xh + h^2 ) /h  =                                    => divide by "h"

2x + h

Thank you,

MrB
